Established in 1909. Generation after generation, we have been making quality Honkaku Shochu in Miyazaki, Japan.
Ryohei Ochiai is the fourth-generation owner of Ochiai Distillery and serves as company president and head brew master.
Our shochu factory lies at the foot of the Wanitsuka Mountains that spans to southern Miyazaki. The area is a basin surrounded by mountains. Riverbed water of Kagamizu River that flows close by is used in our shochu production. All primary moromi mash is placed in Sangoku Wagame vats for fermentation.
These made in Japan ceramic vats have been in use for over a hundred years. In fact, ‘sangoku’ equals to 540 liters (approx.143 US gallons).
Quality of our Shochu lies in the rich fragrance and gentle flavor that leave a soft, lingering sensation. Using a variety of base ingredients, we offer our customers a wide range of tastes to choose from.
Our shochu was adopted by ANA(All Nippon Air Lines) as the alcohol drink served in the First Class. It is the proof of high quality and taste of our Shochu.
